What would you be doing?

Our Vision as a business is to be the “Go-to” supplier of bakery products, working nationally with retailers such as M&S and Waitrose on their premium private label range and regionally through the Village Bakery brand. In achieving this vision, we want to be recognised as a family business that continually invests in the future through the development of our people, quality and food safety culture, equipment and processes.

As the Production Manager of one of our Bakeries, you will be directly contributing to this vision through your core tasks and responsibilities these will include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the performance of the manufacturing site and ensuring that standards of food production are upheld. It will also be your duty to maintain the highest levels of food and feed safety standards.
• Driving continuous improvement in Manufacturing Performance, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Fire Prevention performance across the six manufacturing centres which comprise the Village Bakery Group
• Developing the operational team, including appraisals, up-skilling, performance management and mentoring
• Liaising closely with Technical, Engineering and NPD departments to ensure that high volume, high quality product standards are maintained throughout

What skills and qualifications would you need?

To be a successful Production Manager you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and attributes:

Essential

• Extensive experience in FMCG production, within a Retailer driven environment, and a proven track record of achievement
• Leadership skills – the ability to maximise the potential of the team
• Passionate and focussed about achieving excellent Safety & Environmental performance
• The ability to work under pressure and maintain a consistently high level of performance. Not afraid to challenge others
• You will have good IT skills and be capable of understanding and reacting to operational data
• Quick thinking, you will be skilled at problem solving and be an effective communicator to ensure issues get resolved in a timely manner

Desirable

• Bakery sector experience
